Pilates Associates ProPath™ Mat Teacher Training Program offers a thorough, well-structured education in both classical and modern Pilates Mat work. Students build a clear understanding of Pilates principles, functional movement, anatomy-based sequencing, and real-world teaching skills. The program prepares students to confidently teach Levels 1–3 Mat classes, use props safely and effectively, and work with both groups and private clients. This certification can stand on its own or serve as a strong foundation for continued training within our Comprehensive Training Pathway.

Suggested Pre-requisites for Pilates Mat Teacher Training

Though anatomy, biomechanics, and posture assessment will be discussed and reviewed throughout the course, if you do not meet this prerequisite, plan to spend additional time studying.

Required Observation, Practical, Personal Review

Candidates for a “PATTI Mat Teacher” Diploma must complete the following:

 

1. Pilates Mat Online Workshop and Live Training (Pilates History, repertoire, teaching/cueing, special populations & contraindications)

2. 20hrs Observation (10 hours may be approved pre-recorded instruction)

3. 15hrs Personal Review/Practice

4. 15hrs Pilates Mat Classes and/or Privates Sessions with a qualified Pilates Teacher Trainer​

5. 3hrs Assistant Teaching/Student Teaching (with a qualified Teacher Trainer)

6. 5hrs Supervised Student Teaching/Mentorship (under the supervision of a qualified Teacher Trainer)

7. 5hrs Solo Student Teaching/Practice Teaching (group classes & private training on the Mat, min 2 different clients)

8. 2hrs Exams (1hr practical & 1hr written)
